Hot Gas Filters

At Filter Designs, we have over 43 years of experience in the filtration industry. We cater to a wide range of industries within this sector, and today we’re going to focus on our provision of hot gas filters.

What are Hot Gas Filters?

Hot gas filters are used to process gas produced in various industries in order to deal with particulate matter and other pollutants. This is increasingly a concern for many companies who want to reduce such harmful emissions. Hot gas filtration systems help to conserve the environment by eliminating these by-products of multiple industrial processes. Depending on the type, these hot gas filtration systems can involve flue gases at temperatures between 150°C to 500°C.

What Kind of Filters Are Available?

For hot gas filters, we offer bag filtration, ceramic filtration, and cartridge filtration. Bag filtration is made of cloth, and this typically around 30 feet in length. They are most suitable for applications of 121°C or under, for use in environments where there is a low level of dust. Ceramic filters are particular useful for preventing harmful substances from affecting people, by a process of absorption or neutralisation. A cartridge filter is designed to be more disposable, but they can have the advantage of depth or surface area, depending on the type. Examples of both ceramic and cartridge systems could include precious metal production, whilst coal gasification would typically make use of ceramic filters. Clinical waste incineration could make use of both bag and ceramic, but secondary aluminium smelting would be best with bag filtration, of which there are many more uses.

What Integral Components Might be Included?

The use of integral components really depends on the specific application, with some systems being of a very complex nature. Integral components may include elements such as fans and chimneys, or silos and particular control systems. It might deal with injections such as lime or sodium bicarbonate, or contain particular elements depending on what requires removal. It may be necessary to design a materials handling plant, for example for dust removal or sorbent delivery. We will work with you to find a design that best suits your specific needs.

How are These Systems Designed?

We design many of our hot gas filtration systems internally. We have the facilities to create a design using state of the art drawing packages. These are capable of modelling through different designing tools such as 3D drawings and CFD analysis. You can look at our past projects to see examples of articular applications.
